![]() A chimney, for example, will provide a suitable amount of it. This means that plants need to either be outside, or have some method of receiving natural light. Plants (again with the exception of Mushrooms) require natural light to grow. These seeds (with the exception of mushrooms) have to be planted into a farm plot. ![]() Seeds for flowers and decorative plants can be crafted once the player reaches the appropriate crafting level for seeds, by reading the crafting magazine Southern Farming. Planting tree seeds requires only the appropriate seed and an open area of dirt.Ĭrop and plant seeds can be found via looting or for sale from traders. Tree seeds can be obtained by chopping down a mature tree. This process allows the player to set up a farm and sustain the production of certain foods, items, and resources. I'm on day 28 and I've yet to see them even get one of the bars below half hp and there are 3 layers of them.Įventually I made the pole leading to the bars twist in an S shape with walls inbetween the curves to stop cops from being able to see me and puke at me until they are within 3 blocks of me so I can quickly take them down at close range.Farming is the process of planting, growing, and harvesting the various Trees and Plants found in 7 Days to Die. Because the pole forces them to go in single file only one can even hit the bars at a time and the heads are nice lined up for shotgun headshots. On top of that the foundation has a layer of concrete railings stuck to it so they have to break through two concrete blocks just to get one square inside it.ĩ/10 of the zombies will just run up the ramp to the bars and get completely mowed down by me. Vultures on the roof fly into the spikes and die.Ī few zombies will stand around at the bottom and hit the foundation but not many, and its 5x10 solid concrete so they will have a hard time doing anything to it. Because the path to the bars is a thin pole only one zombie can hit the bars at a time and the corpses and loot bags fall down to the ground keeping it clear. On horde night the zombies come running up the stairs and attack the bars. Theres a door to the side of the bars that you reach by laying down some frame shapes which can be picked up afterwards. You enter the base by going up some stairs and walking across a long pole at the end of which is 3 layers of bars leading into the base. My base is a 5 block high solid foundation with a room on top, interior dimensions of 5x10. ![]() Spread your heat generation out far and wide and you won't have as much problems with the main safe base to rest at. In short to keep a base safe the best thing is to not be at the base. Again you are spreading out your heat generation from the battle and avoiding damage to your safe base. Other side of town, other side of map, etc are all places to do that. Pick somewhere else far and away do your horde nights. Never stay in the 'safe base' during hordes. The idea is to spread out heat generation as much as possible here so your main base stays safe as well as your resource zones. ![]() Same goes with tree farms and any mining operations you do. Should something happen at the base the farm and food it provides will remain safe at it's alternate location like say down the road a bit outside of spawn range for zombies. If you are going for a large farm, place that somewhere other then the crafting base. Make good use of wood spikes since those are easily renewable and can provide an audio warning of breaking and crying zombies if a random wander/wandering horde shows up. If you do choose to engage use quiet weapons such as melee or silenced weapons. Avoid fights at the crafting base at all costs. Avoid gas generators since they are a bit noisy and consume fuel.ĭo not make your crafting base your "horde" base. Use them with care though in case that changes or just go with lanterns for lighting or a solar light bulb setup in later game play. Pumpkin lights work for that kind of lighting without impacting the heat level from what I've seen so far. This keeps your heat level down to easier to manage levels.Īvoid using torches and candles. ![]() Restrict yourself to 1 furnace, 1/2 camp fires, 1 chem station, 1 mixer and out of all of those only use 2-3 at the same time. ![]()
